Obedience Instructor

Judy began teaching with Marsha at Canine Workout in 1989 after doing an apprenticeship under Marsha and applying to be a NADOI endorsed instructor.

Judy has taught both basic and progressive classes at Canine Workout in addition to teaching water training camps for Portuguese Water Dogs across the US and Canada. Judy is also a PWDCA Water Trial Judge.

Judy's students have achieved hundreds of obedience titles ranging from the AKC Companion Dog (CD), AKC Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) and AKC Utility Dog (UD) as well as AKC Utility Dog Excellent (UDX).

Having been a breeder of both Standard Poodles and Portuguese Water Dogs, Judy excels in helping new owners with their puppies including, basic obedience class, problem solving, and behavior modification techniques geared toward developing a long lasting bond between owner and dog.

Judy's accomplishments with her own dogs include two prestigious "Dog World Awards," one with her "Novice A" dog, a Standard Poodle, and the other with her beloved Danielle, a Portuguese Water Dog who went on to become an AKC Obedience Trial Champion—the highest obedience title awarded by the AKC. Judy has trained several Standard Poodles and Portuguese Water Dogs to the Utility Dog Title as well as one other Portuguese Water Dog, Simon, to the UDX title.

Judy's love of obedience training and competition is shared by many of her long-term students, some of them having trained with Judy for close to twenty years.
